I am one of the few privileged son-of-the soil who can meet some of our traditional African chiefs at short notice. Come with me to southern province of Zambia, Namwala district, home to the lLA speaking people. Let us take a drive to a remote royal palace called Baangwe on the fringes of the vast Kafue flats. We shall meet the young flamboyant Paramount Chief His Royal High (HRH) Wesley Mukobela. Culture and following of certain traditional ritual is considered important to the very existence of the lLA speaking people. lLA people are rated as the wealthiest tribe in Zambia by virtual their large herd of cattle they own.
On your travel calendar itinerary, kindly mark 31st October to 3rd November as your date of travel to Zambia to meet His Royal High (HRH) Wesley Mukobela with me. These dates will coincide with the taking place of the Shikaumpa Traditional Ceremony for His Royal High (HRH) Wesley Mukobela and his subjects. On the list of invited guests for the ceremony every year, my name features prominently for one major reason. I am a well known promoter of cultural tourism in Southern province, the tourism hub of Zambia. Shikaumpa Traditional Ceremony is held in remembrance and honor of HRH Chief Wesley’s great grandfather Chief Mukobela the 1st. It is attended by high ranking government officials, foreign ambassadors and other Chiefs from other parts of Zambia. The ceremony is characterized by parading women and girls in traditional attire followed by a mock lion hunt.
The festival culminates with traditional music and dance by the world acclaimed Botswana Traditional Dancers famously known as “Makirikiri” who I bring to grace the ceremony every year. This has earned me full rights to meet and talk with His Royal High (HRH) Wesley Mukobela at any time of the year without following the usual traditional protocols. So do make it a date with me to travel together to meet His Royal High (HRH) Wesley Mukobela. It will be a worthwhile life experience for you to meet His Royal High (HRH) Wesley Mukobela and other traditional chiefs in attendance on a face to face basis. Thereafter, we shall visit the nearby Kafue National Park for your memorable African wildlife viewing excursion. It will be a great way to also celebrate with me my birth day on 2nd November!
