Fort Monze is among the four (4) fort monuments that were strategically located at various sites across Northern Rhodesia (present day Zambia). Other forts were Jameson in Chipata eastern province, Abcorn Mansa in Northern Province, Roseberry in Luapula province. These forts were established in the 1800 by the British South African (BSA) company. The reason was more for economic than political gain, in line with the BSA’s main agenda in Africa. However, these forts gave the BSA some administrative posture as they were mainly manned by the BSA police wing. Fort Monze is on location bearing coordinates: S16° 22′ 43.0″ E27° 26′ 44.1
